Liturgy of the Word with Children
is a simpler version of the Liturgy of the Word.
When we gather together, young and old, we are part of one assembly. Although they are in a separate place, children are still part of this one assembly, and are still celebrating the same Liturgy of the Word as the adults are, but adapted specially for them.

At St Peter’s, Liturgy of the Word with Children takes place (in the parish centre) during the 10.30am Mass, every Sunday except the first Sunday of the month (when there is a family Mass), and except during August.
We listen to the Word of God and reflect on it together. The main elements of the Liturgy of the Word are included. We celebrate and pray with music, action, drama, discussion and silence.

We lead a liturgy geared mainly to children aged from about 4, and we welcome their carers and younger siblings as well. We particularly ask that pre-school children are accompanied. Older children, who have made their first Communion, gather in a different room.

We always welcome offers of help with this rewarding ministry.

On the first Sunday of the month (except January, August and September) there is a Family Mass at 10.30am at St Peter’s. We remain in the church with the rest of the congregation, and children are invited to play a more active part in the Mass.

If you would like to read a bidding prayer at a Family Mass, or carry one of the gifts in the Procession of Gifts, please contact Catherine Hartley (above).
